One Fleeting Second Before

One Fleeting Second Before

By Geoffrey Wilkins

Young Alexandra Adams, daughter of Lee and Heather Adams, sister of Joseph, lover of Robert.

She walks fast down the road with her purse tightly held under her arms. It's dark and deserted. She stops to light a cigarette and continues walking, looking often over her shoulders.
She arrives at her car, drops her half smoked cigarette on the floor and steps on it. She rummages for her keys in her purse and takes them out slowly.
She opens her car and throws her purse in the passengers seat. She quickly gets in and locks the door. She ignites her car, backs out of her spot and drives out carefully. She is safe now. She turns on the heater. It feels nice.
She longs to be home with her loved ones. She thinks of her puppy who she just adopted. She turns into the highway. There aren't many cars, it's quite late. She lets the drivers pass her, she is in no hurry. She soon arrives at the intersection and pulls out of the highway.
She looks left, then right before proceeding out. She drives on and turns into the first street on the left and a large truck drives right into her side of the car. The driver, drunk, speeds away.

An old man comes to help her get out. She is dead.

The Bloody End.
